Enola Gay
A name that evokes apocalyptic memories: it was the name of the bomber that dropped the first atomic bomb in history on the Japanese city of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945, and it was also the name of the pilot’s mother. It is the name of one of my beloved horses, portrayed here in the act of freeing itself from a bothersome insect on its back.
In this gesture, the horse twists with a tension that runs through every fibre of its body, revealing its extraordinary physical presence.
A movement that, once transformed into art, becomes eternal.
ENOLA GAY also exists as a painting: you can find it in the dedicated section.
