Enola Gay

It is the vision of a horse seen from behind – specifically Enola Gay, previously portrayed in sculptural form.

The subject moves, twisting its head toward the viewer, with a tension running through every fibre of its body, revealing its extraordinary physical presence in full.

Executed in mixed media on paper, the work is dominated by green and blue tones, which themselves shape the space in which the figure moves. The black ink line defines volumes and contours, highlighting and intensifying the subject against the coloured surface.

The result is a work of strong emotional impact, retaining the vibrant energy often found in preparatory studies.
